Coming in the second week of February, we’re releasing a major software update for Breezy Blue that introduces new fogging protocols and a fully redesigned Breezy Smart Controller app UI (v3.0.0). These changes are driven directly by real-world clinical use, customer feedback, and internal biological indicator (BI) testing—and they represent one of the most meaningful workflow improvements we’ve made to Breezy Blue to date.
Smart Controller Compatibility
This update applies only to Gen2 Breezy Smart Controllers.
Gen1 Smart Controllers are not affected and will continue to operate with existing fogging protocols and UI.
This release introduces two distinct fogging modes:
Full Mode intentionally slows the fog generation rate, extending fogging time up to ~5 minutes (compared to ~30 seconds to 2 minutes in Quick Mode). This slower humidity ramp improves droplet circulation and room-wide distribution while reducing the chance of condensation, especially in larger spaces.
For most healthcare applications, especially larger rooms or higher log reductions, Full Mode is recommended.
In Full Mode, total treatment time is predictable and standardized, based on internal BI testing conducted under real-world conditions. Users no longer need to understand fogging-time formulas—they simply select Room Size (S, M, L, XL) and Desired Log Reduction (4, 5, or 6). Breezy Blue handles the rest.
Full Mode total treatment times are shown in the table below, which will be documented in the app and the user's manual. These times are designed so EVS teams know exactly when to return to retrieve the device, simplifying scheduling and staffing.

These protocols are informed by internal BI testing in real-world environments. While results depend on proper use and conditions, Full Mode is designed to provide consistent, repeatable performance.
To support these new protocols, the Breezy Smart Controller app has been fully redesigned with a focus on consistency, simplicity, and reduced user error. The following screenshots show some of the most important changes to the new layout and UI improvements.
The operation of the top push button on Breezy Blue has been redesigned to eliminate confusion and reduce operator error.
Previously, the top button acted as a toggle. When push-button fogging was enabled, this could conflict with controller-based operation. With this release, the top push button starts a fog cycle when pressed three times in quick succession. This change aligns the top button with controller-based workflows. The top button can still be enabled or disabled in the app, but most users will leave it enabled and benefit from the consistent behavior. Additional information about setting up and using the push-button are described within the Smart Controller Quick Start Guide.
These updates are part of our broader roadmap to continue improving Breezy as the fastest, most practical method for whole-room deep disinfection, with 15 minutes of total treatment time for most healthcare applications—while making operation simpler and more consistent for frontline staff.
This software update will be available shortly (second week of February).
We recommend all customers review the updated Breezy Blue Quick Start Guide and Smart Controller Quick Start Guide to understand the new modes and UI changes before deploying them operationally.
